We congratulate Gaberialla Solomons, a student of the Dorrington Lab, who graduated at this year’s Graduation Ceremony. She was also recognized for her dedication and hard work, receiving the Departmental award for Top Microbiology student.
During the week’s celebrations, a world-class epidemiologist, Quarraisha Abdool Karim, received an honorary doctoral degree from Rhodes University in recognition of his contributions to HIV/AIDS research, as well as his involvement in responding to the current pandemic. He commented: “In the course of both the HIV and Covid-19 pandemics, I have personally witnessed the importance of staying true to science and evidence.” (ref).
